Out Of This World Tips About How To Build A Bias Probe
In this vid, i'll show you how to make your own cheap, diy tube or valve guitar amplifier biasing probes for measuring plate current and plate voltage.
How to build a bias probe. Ad browse & discover thousands of brands. The meter is set to dc milliamps and the range is set to under 200 milliamps on the meter. Read customer reviews & find best sellers.
Make some bias probes instead. Measure the current across resistor (s). The formula for biasing is the plate dissipation of the tube divided by the plate voltage (let’s use 480 for this example), multiplied by 0.7 or 70%.
Mount the octal tube socket in the enclosure and connect all the wires to it except pin 8. This is the most accurate way of measuring bias current, and only takes a few minutes. Simply remove one of your power tubes, install the probe, which indexes exactly like the tube does with the timing key on the guide pin, then install the tube in the top of the probe.
Pin 8 needs to have the 1 ohm resistor in line with it so take. The eurotubes pro one is pretty awesome, but their $25 option only reads current, not voltage. Pin 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc.
Free shipping on qualified orders. This probe is a step up from the ones i've made previously because it has a tap for th. Click on the images below for a larger image:
One could drill through side of the base of that tube base to make contact with the plate pin for voltage measurement. 2.very, very few product amps use individual bias, you have one bias pot to bias all 4 tubes. Free, easy returns on millions of items.
